Dear Fellow Santa Clarans:

I am blessed to have the support of my family, friends, elected officials, local political clubs, community, business, and interfaith leaders of Santa Clara/ Bay Area. My wife, Sarah, and I want to thank you in advance for your support and vote.

We're just four months away from Election Day, November 4th.

More than any other candidate running in this city, I bring a diverse background and perspective.

The time has come and the 'choice is clear'.

I am honored to have had the opportunity to serve in a wide variety of leadership roles -- as a city commissioner, president of the MCA community organization, a faculty senator where I am a professor of business, and as an 20-year resident. I am a homeowner, a husband and a father. I have served over many years with integrity in positions of trust and hold myself to high ethical standards.

You can trust me to be independent. Although, among all city candidates, I will raise the most in campaign donations, an overwhelming majority of my contributions back in 2010/2012 elections have come from individuals -- from our fellow residents in Santa Clara and throughout the Bay Area.

Over the next ninety days, I will have the opportunity to meet with you  at the 'candidate forums'--- at the Don Callejon School forum and Portuguese Community forum and many more. I  will also have the opportunity to speak to a large number of students at Santa Clara University as a 'Guest Professor/Speaker' on the topic of 'Civic Engagement'. In recent weeks, as I knocked on your doors for support, you've been very gracious and kind. You invited me into your homes and offices.  You demonstrated that you've an open mind, and a big heart. Based on this amazing experience---as a Community, I feel we are ready for a 'new vision’ -- an independent voice, and diverse leadership for Santa Clara.

Based on my business education, expertise, and experience, I intend to bring an 'diverse and fiscally responsible' perspective on the city council (see my video's here on this website) to provide 'effective leadership’ for our Mission City.

I am not a volunteer spokesman for any individual or group, organization or association.

I understand diversity. I have led a local, community organization (Muslim Community Association) with hundreds of families from 70 different nations. I am proud of the overwhelming support of the fellow Santa Clarans including MCA membership.

Through this important work, representing and leading so many families from so many places, I believe I can honestly say I know something about the people who live, work, play, and worship in our Mission City. I know about the challenges they and their families face; and about their aspirations for a quality of life unparalleled in the world. I think this unique insight -- these experiences with a diverse community -- make me uniquely qualified to represent this city.

Respectfully and humbly, I ask for your vote for Seat #2 on November 4, 2014.

Mohammed NADEEM, Ph.D.
